Janus, our general purpose WebRTC gateway, is still young but not a toddler anymore: it’s going to be two years old in just a few weeks! There we were, thinking about how to best celebrate this event, when it occurred to us that we actually never designed a logo for it. You may wonder as to why that happened, considering that’s what most projects work on first. The short answer is: we’re lazy and we’re really bad at graphics! The long answer instead is… well, I guess that’s it, actually. We worked hard on Janus itself, and never really bothered…

WebRTC is an amazing technology, when it works. With just a few lines of JavaScript code, you get audio and video streams with ease in your web page, and with the help of our open source Janus WebRTC gateway you can play with those media to do pretty much what you like. That said, WebRTC can also be incredibly frustrating to novices when it DOESN’T work, that is, whenever you think you did everything right and instead nothing works: you can see others, but others cannot see you, or all you see is a black screen where you expected a…

It took a while but, thanks to the great job by our friends at Uncoso Factory, our brand new (and frankly amazing) teaser spot is now available! For your eyes only, enjoy and feel free to share! Lorenzo MinieroI’m getting older but, unlike whisky, I’m not getting any better lminiero.it

Work is moving on fast on our WebRTC gateway Janus. Just these latest weeks, besides improving the overall architecture and performances, we added several features that we were interested in supporting, like RTCP muxing, bundling, Trickle ICE and more. One of the most interesting new features provided by WebRTC, though, are Data Channels, a way to allow WebRTC users to exchange real-time data other than audio and video in a peer-to-peer fashion. So far, Janus didn’t support them yet. And I mean so far because, as you might have guessed by the enthusiastic and self-revealing post title, we finally implemented…

The IETF meetings are a bit like Christmas after the summer ends. You always think it’s still far away, and instead, suddenly, here it is again! And just like Christmas, an IETF meeting always is an exciting time for us, as it allows us to provide our remote participation services to tons of remote attendees, and experiment on new cool features. Now, after several meetings we supported in the last years, the time for the IETF meeting in London has finally come. As we speak, we’re working on the setup for recording the Sunday tutorials which, as always, will…

After several months of hard work, we’re finally proud to introduce you our latest creation: Janus, a general purpose, open source, WebRTC Gateway! Just as the well known Ancient Rome god had two faces, one looking at the past and one at the future, our own Janus always has two faces as well: one is WebRTC (the future, and a bright one), you choose which one the other should be! Whether you want to do media streaming, conferencing, recording, gatewaying to legacy stuff or whatever, Janus is conceived to allow you to do so. In fact, the Janus gateway was explicitly…

After thinking about something like this for a while, we finally decided to open it: welcome to our new Meetecho Blog! We’re really excited to finally have a new space to put our ideas in, somewhere to tell you what we’re doing, what we’d like to do, or just whatever comes to our silly minds! In fact, while social networks already allowed us to do something like that, what’s better than a blog to actually keep you up to that at full speed? Stay tuned for exciting news in the next few days! Lorenzo MinieroI’m getting older but, unlike whisky,…
